silicone rubber
Features and Benefits
Silicone is ideal for making reusable molds. The extremely stable, yet flexible material can be used particularly well in mold and model making. Thanks to the advantageous properties of silicone rubber, even complex objects with multi-dimensional undercuts can be perfectly reproduced with great attention to detail.
DIY! Make your own silicone molds and models
Silicone molds can be made quickly and easily by yourself. The two-component liquid silicone is mixed in the specified mixing ratio and then poured into the intended shape over the object to be duplicated. After curing, the mold can then be filled with the appropriate casting compound.

Silicone rubber type 16
Silicone rubber type 16 is particularly suitable for use in special effects to imitate glass, water and ice. Due to the very low flexibility and tear resistance, the cured silicone is brittle and can be used perfectly for special effects, such as the splinter effect.
Application areas:
- Production of artificial ice, cuttable and breakable with splinter effect
- Manufacture of imitation glass, pane glass or glass bottles
- Production of low-odour model making water, artificial water in model making
- Potting compound in electrical engineering, LED lamps
! Not suitable for mold and model making
That's how it works!
For the production of silicone molds, it is first necessary to determine what you want to duplicate and what casting material the object will be made of. This is of great importance as there are different types of silicone with different degrees of hardness and flexibility. Heat resistance is also an important factor. Pay attention to the areas of application and the individual product properties of the silicones in the respective descriptions. In the case of translucent or transparent silicones, it is particularly important to determine the area of application and the required transparency in advance.
