silicone rubber
Features and Benefits
Silicone is ideal for making reusable molds. The extremely stable, yet flexible material can be used particularly well in mold and model making. Thanks to the advantageous properties of silicone rubber, even complex objects with multi-dimensional undercuts can be perfectly reproduced with great attention to detail.
DIY! Make your own silicone molds and models
Silicone molds can be made quickly and easily by yourself. The two-component liquid silicone is mixed in the specified mixing ratio and then poured into the intended shape over the object to be duplicated. After curing, the mold can then be filled with the appropriate casting compound.

Silicone rubber type 13
Due to its very soft degree of hardness, silicone rubber type 13 is particularly well suited for the production of small, elastic and hard-wearing molds with pronounced undercuts.
Application areas:
- Molding in industry and electromechanics
- Impression compound in podiatry
- Material for the production of stamps in pad printing
- Manufacture of molds for the lost wax process
- Molding of original models made of wood, glass, metal, plastic, wax, ceramic casting compounds
Application Materials:
- Water-soluble casting materials: Stewalin, Plastalin Super, Keraflott or plaster, Keramin, Alabit, modeling and modeling plaster, casting stone, cement, concrete, etc.
- Other casting compounds: soap casting compound (soap glycerin), candle wax, casting resin (resin)
That's how it works!
The last step is curing. Here the silicone has to harden completely in the time specified by the manufacturer, usually at 23°C. After final hardening, the frame and plasticine can be removed. With a soft silicone, the mold object can be easily removed from the mold. If you have chosen a medium-hard silicone, it may be necessary to cut it with a knife. The resulting gap can be closed later when pouring with the help of a rubber band. The hardened silicone mold can now be filled with various casting compounds. These differ again according to the type of silicone rubber selected. These are, for example, ceramics, plaster, concrete, tin, food, etc.
