silicone rubber
Features and Benefits
Silicone is ideal for making reusable molds. The extremely stable, yet flexible material can be used particularly well in mold and model making. Thanks to the advantageous properties of silicone rubber, even complex objects with multi-dimensional undercuts can be perfectly reproduced in great detail.
DIY! Make your own silicone molds and models
Silicone molds can be made quickly and easily by yourself. The two-component liquid silicone is mixed in the specified mixing ratio and then poured into the intended shape over the object to be duplicated. After curing, the mold can then be filled with the appropriate casting compound.

Silicone rubber type 15
Silicone rubber type 15 is particularly well suited for the production of demanding, elastic and durable shapes with pronounced undercuts.
Application areas:
- Molding of original models made of wood, glass, metal, wax, ceramic casting compounds and plastics
- Molding compound for models in industry and hobby
Application Materials:
- Water-soluble casting materials: TFC Xyrarock, Stewalin, Plastalin Super, Keraflott or plaster, Keramin, Alabit, modeling and model building plaster, Giesston, etc.
- casting compounds containing solvents: casting resin (resin), epoxy resin (pre-treated with release agent)
That's how it works!
The last step is curing. Here the silicone has to harden completely in the time specified by the manufacturer, usually at 23°C. After final hardening, the frame and plasticine can be removed. With a soft silicone, the mold object can be easily removed from the mold. If you have chosen a medium-hard silicone, it may be necessary to cut it with a knife. The resulting gap can be closed later when pouring with the help of a rubber band. The hardened silicone mold can now be filled with various casting compounds. These differ again according to the type of silicone rubber selected. These are, for example, ceramics, plaster, concrete, tin, food, etc.
